Integrity and Leadership

Leonardo “Ding” Olivarez’s journey from a humble background to becoming a notable figure in public service showcases his determination and commitment to creating a better future for himself and his community.

Born in 1966 in Barangay San Vicente, Libon, to parents facing financial challenges in farming, Ding Olivarez faced the struggles of poverty. However, his academic excellence in high school, where he graduated as the salutatorian in 1978, reflected his early aspirations for a brighter future.

Despite financial constraints, Ding’s parents supported his pursuit of higher education. He faced a temporary setback, having to pause his studies for a year, but fortune smiled on him when he secured a 4-H scholarship. This opportunity allowed him to pursue a degree in BS Agribusiness at Bicol University College of Agriculture and Forestry (now BU Guinubatan)

During his college years, Ding’s leadership qualities became evident as he served as the president of the Student Council and the editor of the campus paper, The Seedling. His exceptional performance caught the attention of Guinobatan LGU officials, who appointed him as the Correspondent of Albay Bareta. Later, he earned a promotion to the position of Human Resource Officer.

Ding’s journey continued as he transitioned to Libon LGU, where he became a shining example of competence, honesty, and dedication in public service. His commitment to serving his community sets a positive precedent for others to follow, demonstrating that one’s background does not limit their potential for success and contribution to society.

In 1994, while working as a Community Affairs Officer in the LGU of Libon, Ding pursued further education, studying for a Master of Public Administration at Republic Colleges of Guinubatan from 1994 to 1996. His dedication to continuous learning was evident when he was promoted to Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator in 2001, prompting him to pursue a law degree from 2004 to 2008 at the University of Northeastern Philippines.

Amid his government service, Ding ventured into real estate in 2005 as a Real Estate Practitioner, eventually becoming a Real Estate Broker. In 2011, he established LMO Human Resources Agency and Realty Services, which has since enjoyed considerable success in the real estate industry in Albay.

Whether Ding Olivarez pursued a career as a public servant, entrepreneur, or benefactor, his story serves as an inspiration for those facing adversity, emphasizing the importance of education, hard work, and integrity in achieving personal and professional goals.
